A media player for jailbroken PS3 systems, now known as Movian.
Showtime is a media player for use on HTPC media centers. This version has been ported over to the PlayStation 3 system enabling users to view and listen to file formats otherwise not supported natively. Support for MKV file support has been added along with some new Playstation-centred features such as displaying Cell information with the R3 button. At the moment, some serious bugs still exist and can hamper playback ability. Stuttering video has been noted by users and occasional crashes when scrolling large playlists.
In our tests, ShowTime Media Player has been tested with and works with Twonky Media Server, ps3mediaserver and TVersity. While the stability of working with these media servers has been wobbly, future development promises improvements.
With the release of PS3 ShowTime 2.99.401, Andreas Öman and the people who spend their free time helping develop this application have added a slew of fixes including increased performance overall, subtitle fixes, less crashing, UTF-8 subtitle support, AVI playback problems, better compatibility with TwonkyMedia and improvement of mp4 playback. Buffer management has also seen some bugfixes.
Version 3.0 has now been released but with very few updates regarding the stability of playing high-def movie files nor better support for MKV files. Though there is a new zoom function.
